The course

Everything you need to start taking clients.

A comprehensive two-day training designed to give new and developing locticians the confidence, technique and business knowledge to build a professional loc service from the ground up.

You will not share the session with anyone. It is 1:1 the whole way through, working on a mannequin so you can be corrected mid-technique and start again without a client in the chair. By the end of day two you will have done every core technique with your own hands, not watched someone else do it.

What you’ll learn

Fourteen things you will be able to do afterwards.

  • Professional client consultations
  • Scalp and hair assessments
  • Starter loc techniques
  • Palm rolling and comb coils
  • Professional retwisting
  • Healthy loc maintenance
  • Product selection and usage
  • Basic styling
  • Crochet fundamentals
  • Frizz management
  • Loose hair incorporation
  • Minor loc repairs
  • Client aftercare
  • Business and pricing fundamentals

Who it is for

This course is built for three people.

Complete beginners

You have never done loc work professionally and want a proper foundation rather than piecing it together from videos.

Hairstylists adding locs

You already work with hair and want to add loc services to what you offer, without guessing your way through the first few clients.

Beauty professionals diversifying

You want a second skill that brings repeat clients on a regular maintenance cycle rather than one-off bookings.

Questions

Before you enquire.

Do I need any experience?

No. This is the one course built for people starting from nothing. If you already work with locs, one of the other three will suit you better — say so in your enquiry.

Do I need to be licensed?

Not for this course.

Do I bring a model?

No. You work on a mannequin, which is deliberate — you can stop, be corrected and start the section again without someone sitting in the chair.

Do I need to bring tools?

No. Your kit is included and it is yours to keep.

What happens after the two days?

You get ongoing support. The questions that matter usually turn up on your third or fourth real client, not during the course, so you can come back and ask them.

How much does it cost?

Send a training enquiry and we will confirm the current price along with upcoming dates. Places are booked personally rather than online, so we can make sure the course fits you first.
